    Camera Stories: Filmmaking Workshop

    This 5-day workshop with Filmmaker, Writer and Teacher, Samina Mishra, introduces participants to the language of visual storytelling. It takes them through the steps of making a short film, from brainstorming ideas to shooting and editing. Focussing on concepts and narrative skill-building, the workshop encourages participants to reflect on their world and express themselves in meaningful and playful ways. Participants are required to bring a simple camera (even phone cameras will do) and should have laptops with basic editing software, for example, iMovies or Filmora. Age group: 12-14 years Fees: INR 7500 About the workshop facilitator Samina Mishra is a documentary filmmaker, writer and teacher based in New Delhi, with a special interest in media for and about children, and in the ways that the arts can be included in education. Her work includes Stories of Girlhood, three films on growing-up as a girl-child in India, Home and Away, a multi-media exhibition on immigrant children, Nehru’s Children, an archival research project on the archive of the Children’s Film Society of India and My Sweet Home: Childhood Stories from a Corner of the City, a book that comes out of a creative writing and art workshop designed to encourage self-expression and creative practice in children. She is the co-curator of Soundphiles, an experimental listening experience, at the Asian Women’s Film Festival, and is currently teaching a Film Studies programme at Pathways World School, Noida and collaborating on Torchlight, a web journal on libraries and bookish love. Erroll has revived the “Art of braiding” through 27 years of extensive work and have exhibited nationally and internationally at United States, and several countries in Europe including United Kingdom, and his pieces are part of the permanent collection in Whitworth Museum in Manchester, besides creating masterpieces in braiding he has tirelessly taught and shared this great art with students and researchers of various universities and institutions across the world, so that it can be fully revived and brought into mainstream textile industry. He is also known as the last living legend in India to know Camel Braiding. Today this technique is one of most innovative technique for creating seamless garments, lifestyle products & fashion accessories using single or two yarns. It can help in reducing the process of making it possible to create garments and multi-purpose products using single technique. Hence, expenditure on manufacturing infrastructure is almost Nil and needs human calibre to calibrate it. This also creates these techniques amongst “Fashion without guilt” as it doesn’t have any carbon footprint, no pollution and is completely environment friendly and can help fight climate change.
